Our history
SOS Software Service GmbH was founded in 1987 by three visionary students, including Joaquim Moreira dos Santos, who still plays a central role today. Initially, we concentrated on software for the construction industry, while at the same time looking for modular systems and special developer tools. Joaquim Moreira dos Santos wrote the first manual and thus laid the foundation for our development.
When the sale of construction software was discontinued, we shifted our focus to development software. In 1994, Marc Gloning joined the team, which helped us to concentrate increasingly on specialized development tools. In the 1990s, communication channels were much more limited, which made it difficult to establish new contacts and find potential business partners. Faced with this challenge, the management quickly realized how essential an extensive network was for the successful development and distribution of software. During this time, they built up a network that is still an important part of our business activities today. Many of the vendor relationships that we still maintain today and through which we continue to successfully distribute products are based on this network. At the same time, we recognized the difficulties of distributing software worldwide and began to work specifically on solutions to improve this process. Since 2010, our focus has been entirely on software distribution in all areas.

Environmental awareness
Many people are still talking about it, but we are already living it – because it makes sense and it concerns us all. We generate the electricity we need in the office ourselves via a 57 kWP photovoltaic system on our office roof. And because we produce so much electricity, there’s even enough left over to feed our air-heat pump heating system and fuel our company cars – which are all electric. We use energy-efficient appliances and only use LED lamps. All our work processes are digitalized, which significantly reduces our paper consumption. And because that’s not enough for us, we have four bee colonies “move in” at the Augsburg site. These are not only important for the environment, but also provide super tasty honey.
