Press release:
New management and new shareholder structure
The younger generation is taking over at the Augsburg-based software value-added distributor SOS Software Service. Founder Joaquim Moreira dos Santos and his long-time partner Marc Gloning are handing over the company management and shares to Philipp Niemann and Alexander Wacker. They will withdraw from the business as planned in the coming year.
“Once we had decided to initiate the company succession process, everything happened very quickly,” recalls Joaquim Moreira dos Santos. “Negotiations with Philipp and Alex started at the beginning of the year. We were already in agreement in May and initiated the process.”
As former Chief Digital Officer at Hella Gutmann, Philipp Niemann has experience in digitalization as well as in the management of a large medium-sized company.
Software distribution is Alexander Wacker’s specialty. The long-standing sales manager at SOS Software Service not only knows the company, but also the distribution environment and has an excellent network of vendors and partners.
“With Philipp and Alex, we have a powerful team that is leading SOS Software Service into the future with a clear vision,” explains Marc Gloning. However, it wasn’t just the professional qualifications that were important to the two owners. “It also has to be a good fit on a personal level. We have complete trust in both of them. We have been running the business together for a few months now and are gradually handing over our responsibilities. We make all decisions as a foursome. The collaboration is very positive.”
The two new partners were already on the road together at the Canalys industry conference to hold talks with manufacturers and meet customers.
“We want to develop SOS Software Service further,” explains Philipp Niemann. Today, the focus is on transactional business with large account resellers (LARs) and system houses, which is based on a high degree of automation. “In the future, we will strengthen the value-add and consulting approach and broaden the portfolio.”
“We are currently looking at the cybersecurity market,” says Alexander Wacker. It has great potential and interesting growth opportunities. “Initial negotiations are already underway. We are knocking on the doors of many vendors.”
Joaquim Moreira dos Santos sums up: “Good timing is important. I am convinced that we have found a very good succession solution for ourselves and, above all, for our company.”
